Monday, January 28, 2008 in News

Unisys Corp. said Monday that it received a contract worth at least $37.2 million to work on a system that will allow for RFID-based passports, The Philadelphia Business Journal reported earlier.

The Blue Bell, Pa., company said the work is for the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. In addition to reading RFID passports, the system would take pictures of drivers, their vehicles and their license plate numbers, Unisys said, and it would quickly check the information against watch lists. [end]
