Smart cards help Iran start rationing gasoline

Iran began the rationing of petroleum. The rationing program is aimed at reducing the large state gasoline subsidies. With the rationing came higher prices as well as smart cards to help the government keep track of the citizens’ purchases. There have been riots throughout the early morning protesting the ration on fuel. [end]
