Psion Teklogix and N4 Systems Announce Partnership
Wireless technologies producer Psion Teklogix and N4 Systems Inc., a provider of safety compliance and inspection management solutions, have teamed up to create a real-time RFID-based mobile data collection solution for safety compliance and inspection applications. The new system combines N4 Systems’ Field ID software with Psion Teklogix’ WORKABOUT PRO and Ikôn PDA mobile devices.
The Psion Teklogix and N4 Systems product enables users to electronically record and automatically create inspection reports in the field to determine the status of their safety compliance in real-time, eliminating the delays that paper-based field inspections can cause in industries subject to heavy government regulation and inspection.
The system includes RFID technology for asset identification and Psion Teklogix’ durable handheld computers with 3G WWAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity as well as an integrated camera option. The application also features secure data management, distribution and storage, remote system management and support, and network integration.
The new solution is targeted at industries such as mining, utilities, and oil and gas. With recent accidents bringing new focus and increasing government requirements for ongoing inspections, construction cranes have also emerged as a new market. Crane inspections involve hundreds of different parts unique to the individual piece of equipment, and the difficulty of determining which inspection criteria matches a particular piece of equipment is substantial. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/rfidnews-4.gif)
