Several of Ireland’s popular nightclubs, including Dublin’s Krystal and Havana Browns in Cork City, are deploying RFID social networking technology to enable club-goers the ability to post status updates to their Facebook, reports Silicon Republic.
Provided by Ireland-based VisionID, the system allows clubbers to swipe an RFID key fob on a staff member’s tablet computer which updates their accounts. Clubbers can also upload personal photos, food or drink images, descriptions, and information about prizes that they may have won on the night.
Among the clubs involved are Sense in Cookstown, Mynt in Belfast, Krystal in Dublin, Havana Browns in Cork City, and The Foundry in Carlow, The Icon in Limerick, as well as the CHQ building in Dublin’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC).
VisionID used the Motorola AP5131 wireless access point throughout the venues in conjunction with a number of tablet computers. The AP5131’s mesh features offer easy installation and integration to work in each of the venues without the need to run cables.
