Zebra introduces the Dart UWB Vision Reader

Friday, November 4, 2011

Zebra announced the availability of its Dart Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Vision Reader, with patented short-pulse UWB technology that provides visibility across an even larger range of environments for asset location or presence detection.

The robust technology offered by Zebra’s Dart UWB Vision Reader supports applications in a wide range of industries, from inventory detection in industrial manufacturing to personnel mustering in petrochemical facilities. For example, one of the largest, global aircraft manufacturers is utilizing Dart UWB technology to gain real time visibility to thousands of high-value assets such as tools, equipment and parts.

The Zebra UWB reader supports standard networking, Wi-Fi connectivity and advanced tools to provide an easy set-up, installation and configuration. It also has a fully weatherproof design and an operational temperature range from -40° C to +55° C.

Combined with patented short-pulse technology that allows DartTag to be detected in high multi-path, metallic environments, the Dart Vision Reader provides visibility to assets and personnel in real time. [end]

Vision-Box, a biometrics solutions provider, has come out with an automatic border control e-gate that supports multimodal biometric authentication.

This new e-gate is a thin system that contains vb i-match, a single sourced design that is modular and flexible and can be adapted to business requirements and infrastructure constraints that would otherwise disrupt passenger flow. It has the ability to cope with industry standards such as ICAO. The e-gate supports iris, fingerprint and facial biometrics.
