Cubic offers mist licensing and modules for evaluation

Thursday, November 3, 2011

Cubic Global Tracking Solutions announced the availability of its mesh technology, coined mist. Cubic will offer mist for licensing purposes, as well as accompanying module that will allow companies to evaluate for incorporation into their own product lines.

The announcement follows a successful test Cubic conducted, involving 6,500 mesh asset tags that were on hand at the San Diego facility en-route to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, where the solution will be used for yard management of military vehicles.

Engineers utilized those devices to form a network of 6,500 nodes; one of the largest IEEE 802.15.4 PHY based mesh networks formed. Cubic’s mist mesh network is dynamic, self-forming, ad-hoc and uses ultra low power devices that can be both end sensor nodes and routing nodes simultaneously.

To launch the licensing of the mesh technology, executives and staff from Cubic Global Tracking Solutions will be on hand at the Wireless Sensor Networks Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, from November 14 - 16.

Cubic has been nominated for the Best Application of Wireless Sensor Network award, a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding achievements in the development and application of advanced wireless network technologies. [end]
