Richardson Police launches RFID inventory system from GlobeRanger

Thursday, October 6, 2011

The Richardson Police Department in Texas has deployed an RFID asset management system powered by GlobeRanger’s GR AWARE application.

The RPD solution runs on GlobeRanger’s iMotion platform which enables data capture from current and the next generation of devices. This allows the department to electronically scan and catalog inventory, and obtain real-time visibility on critical assets ranging from weapons and uniforms to radars and cell phones.

The GlobeRanger solution also allows the department to move away from the conventional paper records and time consuming manual entries while at the same time increasing accuracy.

GlobeRanger’s GR AWARE application features additional benefits to increase control over assets including improved reporting and advanced alerting capabilities. [end]

The Carrollton and Lewisville, Tex. police departments used Plano-based Mentalix Inc.’s Submit live scan system to nab the suspect, Danny Elenilson Osorio. Lewisville police officers stopped Osorio in March on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Osorio gave a fake name and birth date, and police arrested him and took him to the Lewisville jail.
