XECAN, Trimble delivers ThingMagic powered RFID oncology solution

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Trimble announced XECAN has integrated the ThingMagic Astra ultra-high frequency reader into its RFID oncology solution, which was also just recently deployed at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Mass.

With the integrated ThingMagic Astra reader installed the oncology solution automates patient queuing, along with the opening of patient charts and treatment plans, in addition to accessory verification for treatment devices.

With the integrated solution, health care organizations can offer patients a safer and more inviting medical experience. Each patient receives a XECAN RFID lanyard. The ThingMagic Astra RFID reader automatically identifies the patient and places them in the daily schedule queue. Their medical chart and treatment plan are then immediately opened.

The RFID plug-in solution additionally enhances patient experience with improved levels of communication, safety, and reliability that work to eliminate patient identification and treatment errors; and do so by interfacing directly with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software. Patient-identifiable information can only be viewed within the clinic and only by authorized staff members.

Lahey Clinic has also selected the XECAN RFID solution, with the first phase set for installation at its Burlington, Massachusetts site for patient tracking and queuing. [end]
