Nordic ID, austriamicrosystems introduce latest products

Nordic ID has partnered together with austrianmicrosystems to announce the latest in Nordic ID next generation ultra-high frequency RFID mobile computers, fixed RFID readers and RFID reader modules.

Enabled by austriamicrosystems’ AS3992 reader chip, the Nordic ID UHF RFID reader NUR-05W is the 500 milliwatt RFID module that drives the Nordic ID Morphic, Nordic ID Merlin and Nordic ID Sampo mobile computers and ID readers.


Nordic ID Morphic a Windows CE mobile device for data collection and voice communication purposes. The Nordic ID Merlin RFID Cross Dipole enables RFID reading from any angle at 4 meters or more, for as long as 28 hours on a single charge. The Nordic ID Sampo S1 is a mountable USB reader for interactive read/write RFID applications.

The AS3992 ultra-high frequency reader chip is an integrated analog front-end and data framing system for a 900 MHz RFID reader system. Additional built-in programming options make it suitable for a wide range of applications in RFID systems. [end] 

The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance announced that austriamicrosystems has joined as a full member.

Since joining the OSPT Alliance, austriamicrosystems will have access to the CIPURSE open standard specification, leveraging its experience into embedded systems for mobile fare collection applications. The open standard promotes vendor neutrality and cross-vendor system interoperability with reduced technology adoption risks, higher quality and improved market responsiveness.
