Sports Illustrated kicks off college football tour with RFID tailgate parties

The 2011 Sports Illustrated Heisman Tour is using this new concept of social networking with RFID to provide thousands of college football fans with an exciting environment that unites sports and technology.

At each stop on the 2011 tour fans can register a RFID bracelet, the “Heisman Bracelet”, to automatically send updates and photos to their Facebook profile.

SI will interview the key players and coaches for that game with questions comprised exclusively from football fans which have been submitted and voted upon by the social community via “Just Askin.”

Additionally, fans will be able to participate in the Combine Skills Challenge using gesture recognition technology, and explore HD touch screen kiosks with team-specific video, photos and past SI covers. [end]
