Vail Ski Resorts has installed a new RFID-enabled social networking application that helps skiers and snowboards track and share their progress on the Colorado slopes, according to San Francisco Chronicle.
The program, called EpicMix, allows anyone on the mountain to use a RFID-equipped lift ticket and automatically track what runs they did, how many vertical feet they’ve skied, where they were, and where their friends were.
Skiers and snowboarders can earn “pins,” or badges, for completing certain tasks while on the mountain and see who can accumulate the most feet skied. The RFID application enables guests to share their experiences and upload photos to their EpicMix account, which can be shared with Facebook and Twitter.
