Traza, Nordic ID gets called upon for wine cellar management

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

To assist in the tracking of its extensive wine collection, Tristan turned to Traza and Nordic ID to help design and implement an RFID system that would enable quick and accurate identification and traceability.

Tristan operates an international group of gourmet restaurants with widespread inventories which stretch across three warehouses.

Prior to the RFID system, the wine cellar was operated manually. And with three warehouses, this left plenty of room for human error. Not to mention, there was always running the risk of breakage due to the constant handling of the bottles.

Nordic ID Merlin UHF RFID Cross Dipole mobile computers paired with Traza ultra-high frequency RFID technology now enable inventories to update automatically, in real time, using the restaurant’s wireless communications.

From its implementation of RFID technology, Tristan is now able to improve inventory control of their wine cellar, increase search time for bottles, and minimize errors and eliminate the handling of bottles during inventory processing.

In addition, TRISTAN has now be¬gun to use the RFID system to aid in the processing of orders and deliveries to other restaurants in the group they manage. [end]
