Brazilian aerospace corp. deploys RFID for tool track and trace

Monday, June 27, 2011

Embraer S.A., the Brazilian aerospace corporation, has chosen RFsense and Xerafy to deploy an automated RFID solution for the wireless track and trace of tools and instruments.

RFsense designed the system for Embraer which provides an automated tool check-in/check-out and tool locator. The system will reduce lost and stolen tools, as well as the time it takes to locate a tool when one does go missing.

The automated tool tracking solution will also enable increased efficiency and reduce foreign object damage risks by narrowing the search area to quickly locate any missing tools. Embraer has already improved their tool inventory management process by faster workflow processes, reduced paperwork, and the elimination of error-prone data entry.

In addition to tool tracking, Embraer said that it will expand the use of RFID technology in other areas as well. [end]
