DAILY launches on-metal contactless tag

DAILY RFID has unveiled its new UHF gen 2 contactless RFID tag designed for use on metal surfaces.

The read/write tag, which operates in the 860MHz to 960MHz frequency, can be used to identify metal-surfaced objects in harsh environments such as warehouses or product lines. According to DAILY, the tag is durable enough to withstand temperatures up to 90 degrees centigrade, as well as a wide range of aggressive chemicals.


The EPC C1 Gen2-complaint tag, which can be affixed to metal surfaces by its adhesive or screws, features a read range up to 3.5 meters and comes with three storage options: 96 bit, 512 bit or 2 Kb. [end] 

Identive Group announced tomPAY, an NFC-enabled sticker tag that can be affixed to existing mobile phones to enable contactless payments.

Based on Identive’s tom (tag on metal) smart inlay technology, tomPAY is manufactured using the same processes as an ISO PVC card. When placed on a phone, tomPAY enables contactless mobile payments in compliance with MasterCard PayPass specifications, as well as loyalty, transport ticketing and other m-commerce services.

In an effort to provide better security at the school, students and staff at Lakewood High School in New Jersey are now wearing ID badges at all times while on campus. In addition, they also must pass through metal detectors when entering school grounds.
