Trimble, Truecount partner to deliver ThingMagic powered RFID solutions

Monday, March 21, 2011

Trimble announced that it has partnered up with Truecount Corporation to leverage ThingMagic enterprise-grade RFID readers to deliver enhanced item-level RFID platforms for the retail industry and their end-to-end supply chains.

Trimble recently introduced the ThingMagic Mercury6 multiprotocol RFID reader, a low-profile embedded reader module designed for integration in enterprise, commercial and industrial environments. This reader allows for a range of up to 30 feet and an RFID tag read rate of 400 tags per second in typical reader zone environments.

Statistics from the RFID Research Center at the University of Arkansas place the current inventory accuracy rate for apparel stores in the U.S. at roughly 65 percent. By implementing item-level RFID, Truecount believes retailers can achieve up-to-the-minute inventory visibility that is approximately 99 plus percent precise.

Without RFID, most retail companies lack reliable information about inventory and the activities relating to the shipping and receiving of items for their store, said Truecount CEO, Zander Livingston. They cannot track with precision when or where an item has been received, where it currently resides in the store or if and when it reached its final destination. [end]

GAO RFID Asset Tracking announced an ultra-high frequency Gen 2 RFID reader with 4-port read and 4-port listen.

This RFID reader, operating at the frequency range of 902 to 928 MHz, reads Gen 2 compatible transponders at a maximum distance of up to 7 meters or more. It also offers communication interfaces including Ethernet TCP/ IP, DHCP and HTTPS for data exchange.
