Zebra unveils latest RXi4 printer/encoder for item-level tagging

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Zebra Technologies Europe has announced availability of the Zebra RXi4 RFID print/encoder designed for high-volume, item-level tagging from supply chain to retail floor. The rugged R110Xi4 aims to streamline workflow operations and supply chain management applications such as inventory management and more across retail, manufacturing, health care and distribution channels.

The RXi4 features Zebra’s patent-pending Adaptive Encoding technology, which can detect the RFID inlay position within the label and automatically configure the printer/encoder. This enables companies to use media converted for other-brand printer/encoders with minimal printer reconfiguration – ensuring tag accuracy and saving time and money.

Other features of the RXi4 include on-pitch encoding for lower cost per label and faster printer/encoder throughput, along with global certifications for multinational supply chain management.

A recent survey from VDC Research projects the Europe, Middle East, and Africa market for RFID printer/encoders is expected to grow by nearly 20% in 2011 – attributed to an increased demand from retail to manufacturing, health care and other industries for item-level tracking to better monitor inventory levels and track assets. [end]

Impinj introduced Monza Self-Serialization, a chip-based EPC serialization method supported on ultra-high frequency RFID inlays powered by the Monza 5 tag chip.

Monza Self-Serialization generates a unique Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) directly from each tag chip. This chip-based serialization simplifies EPC serial number management, giving retail brand owners the flexibility to decide when, where and how they manage the item-level tagging process across their supply chain.
