Omnitrol, BT teams to provide retailers item-level tracking solutions

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Omnitrol Networks announced it has partnered with BT, a provider communications solutions and services, to develop and deploy RFID-based item-level tracking solutions for retail industries.

The new RFID solutions will track actual inventory movements and item-level pace by stock keeping unit (SKU) and deliver real-time replenishment alerts and visibility for retail store managers.

The distributed retail solution provides capabilities such as misplaced article detection, automated and predictive item-level replenishment alerts, and store-wide inventory reconciliation through real-time reports, alerts and mobile handhelds that help improve operational efficiency in the stores.

Its predictive analytic allow stores to replenish the sales floor eliminating out-of-stocks. Employees can spend more time with customers rather than looking for inventory and retailers can ensure products are at the right place, at the right time, improving customer satisfaction, reducing markdowns, and increasing sales. [end]

Impinj introduced Monza Self-Serialization, a chip-based EPC serialization method supported on ultra-high frequency RFID inlays powered by the Monza 5 tag chip.

Monza Self-Serialization generates a unique Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) directly from each tag chip. This chip-based serialization simplifies EPC serial number management, giving retail brand owners the flexibility to decide when, where and how they manage the item-level tagging process across their supply chain.
