Checkpoint Systems introduces out-of-the-box for retail merchants

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Apparel retailers face a variety of challenges, which may impact sales and margins daily, including inventory and reduced sales due to out-of-stocks.

To combat these challenges, Checkpoint Systems announced an out-of-the-box handheld visibility solution designed for closed-loop apparel retailers and department stores.

Based on RFID technology, the solution enables retailers to track inventory at the item level both in the back room and on the sales floor. This helps improve inventory accuracy, reduce out-of-stocks, improve replenishment, increase store efficiency and increase sales.

Designed to quickly enable store receiving, inventory counting, and tracking of items sold, the out-of-the-box system is easily configured and typically includes a handheld RFID reader, RFID hard tags and labels, RFID software and a laptop computer. [end]

Zebra and Checkpoint Systems have entered into a cooperative relationship and licensing agreement. While the exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the relationship does bring together Zebra’s active location solutions with Checkpoint division OATSystems’ passive RFID, auto-ID and sensor capabilities.
