Chinese apparel co. streamlines operations and cuts back on fakes with RFID

Friday, September 10, 2010

UPM Raflatac recently partnered with Jawasoft China to provide Beijing-based apparel company, Jossy Jo, with an item-level RFID solution designed to improve logistics operations and prevent counterfeit products.

Jossy Jo utilizes more than 2 million ShortDipole RFID tags a year from UPM Raflatac to track and trace their garments. RFID labels are attached to every garment during the production phase, which means faulty garments can be traced back to the point of production where the root cause of problems can be examined and resolved.

Jossy Jo has enabled real-time data concerning its logistics operations, which also streamlines cooperation between Jossy Jo and its franchisees, distributors and agents as the accurate, and readily available real-time information leaves little room for interpretation.

The solution is also a brand protection tool, helping prevent counterfeit products from reaching stores. Thus far, the company reports that it has been able to eliminate product forgery that has previously accounted for three percent of annual sales. [end]
