Vineyard taps kegs with RFID

Silvertap, a Free Flow Wines brand and provider of wines on tap, is working with Mobile BIS to develop RFID technology-based mobile software that tracks and validates every step of its keg’s product lifecycle.

From the warehouse to bars and restaurants around the world and back, every keg of wine in Silvertap’s pipeline is will be tracked using RFID technology, enabling accurate tracking of kegs’ whereabouts are in the marketplace.

Silvertap will also deploy Psion Teklogix Workabout Pro handheld computers, running Windows Mobile. The rugged handheld provides a mobile solution that is able to withstand harsh conditions experienced on warehouse floor, ranging from drastic temperature changes to daily abuse. [end] 

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has placed an order with Hitachi Asia Ltd. to supply passive RFID technology that will enable the Singapore Government to track various emergency equipment at all sixteen fire stations island wide.
