Zebra, IBSS partners for health care solutions

Zebra announced Integrated Business Systems and Services as the newest member of its channel partner program. This newly formed relationship enables IBSS to certify and incorporate Zebra hardware into its software solutions.

IBSS has already implemented a solution using Zebra active RFID tags to track critical care equipment at South Carolina’s Greenville Hospital System, a 900 bed, 32 operation room facility.


IBSS is now incorporating active RFID from Zebra into its health care industry solutions and evaluating uses for technologies into future projects, in other industries it serves.

IBSS joined the Zebra channel partner program after utilizing ultra-wide band technology from Multispectral Solutions, which has since been acquired by Zebra. [end] 

The Basque National Health System has launched a neonatal security system designed to monitor and protect new-born infants using RFID technology.

When a pregnant woman is admitted to hospital, she is provided a tag with a unique identification which can be read in all the maternity zones. When the baby is born, an RFID tag specially designed for the new born is fitted to its ankle. The device monitors the infant 24 hours a day, detecting unauthorized movements, registering entries and exits to and from and enabling immediate location information.

Zebra and Checkpoint Systems have entered into a cooperative relationship and licensing agreement. While the exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the relationship does bring together Zebra’s active location solutions with Checkpoint division OATSystems’ passive RFID, auto-ID and sensor capabilities.
