Dynamic Computer Corp. develops RFID hand-washing application

Monday, June 7, 2010

Dynamic Computer Corp. has developed a hand hygiene monitor application made possible by RFID technology, to reduce yearly incidences of health care-associated infections (HAIs).

The solution uses RFID readers in soap dispensing units that monitor staff member’s via their RFID-enabled ID badges, and capture the location and timing of hand hygiene compliance.

Staff members are even alerted, in real time when they forget to wash their hands. After washing their hands, employees hear a verification sound that indicates successful information capture about whom, when and where the hand washing occurred.

Dynamic’s application enables hospitals to accurately track and report on hand hygiene compliance to monitor problem areas and identify additional training where necessary [end]
