Sirit tapped by DOD for logistics support

Sirit and the Defense Logistics Agency, the U.S. Department of Defense’s combat logistics support agency, have signed a one year contract for Sirit RFID technology to track and manage the international transport of materials.


An estimated $2.7 million contract, the Defense Logistics Agency will be utilizing Sirit’s EPC Class 1, Gen 2 compliant RSI-674 inlay.

The passive RFID labels and ribbons will be deployed for the internal and external tracking of materials, covering all Defense Distribution Center depots across the United States, and overseas. [end] 

Oracle Corporation has announced that its latest Java Card 3.0.4 platform will include support for NFC to enable secure communication between devices, reports Hothardware.com.

According to Oracle, Java Card enables smart cards and other devices with very limited memory to run small applications, called applets, that employ Java technology. Almost any type of smart card can use Java Card technology, including SIM cards, bank cards, government and health care IDs, smart transit tickets and physical and logical access control credentials.

Fujitsu and Boeing have established an alliance in which the companies will develop a service to enable greater efficiency in aircraft maintenance operations.

The partnership will employ RFID devices and contact memory buttons to enable customers to use these technologies without needing to retrofit their own fleets, thus allowing airlines to reduce costs by eliminating inventory and manual data entry errors without having to create new processes.

Comtech Mobile Datacom has received an order totaling $1.4 million under its movement tracking system contract with the U.S. Army.

The order is in Phase II of an ongoing effort to complete migration of all RFID processes to the new international standard ISO/IEC 18000-7. It encompasses modifications to the platform’s application program, network and other interfaces.
