Sirit tapped by DOD for logistics support

Sirit and the Defense Logistics Agency, the U.S. Department of Defense’s combat logistics support agency, have signed a one year contract for Sirit RFID technology to track and manage the international transport of materials.


An estimated $2.7 million contract, the Defense Logistics Agency will be utilizing Sirit’s EPC Class 1, Gen 2 compliant RSI-674 inlay.

The passive RFID labels and ribbons will be deployed for the internal and external tracking of materials, covering all Defense Distribution Center depots across the United States, and overseas. [end] 

Australia’s ANZ has completed a pilot of a mobile phone app that allows small business to accept contactless credit card payments, according to itnews.com.au.

The ePOS Mobile app is the first of its kind to be trialed by a major bank in Australia, and its only competition appears to be an independent app created by freelance web designer Michael Dimoudis called iCCPay, which has so far seen 75 downloads without the support of banks or payment processors.

Comtech Mobile Datacom has received an order totaling $1.4 million under its movement tracking system contract with the U.S. Army.

The order is in Phase II of an ongoing effort to complete migration of all RFID processes to the new international standard ISO/IEC 18000-7. It encompasses modifications to the platform’s application program, network and other interfaces.
