Texas library system chooses ITG

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

The Plano Public Library System has elected to go with the Integrated Technology Group as its supplier for a full RFID implementation of each of its five branches.

Each branch will receive ITG’s XpressCheck so library patrons can perform access to self-service check outs, as well as standard desktop and mobile staff stations.

Security gates equipped with ITG’s ExitWatch loss prevention and item tracking software will also be installed for ensuring items that are no checked out remain in the facility.

A FullSort Compact 5-Bin automated handling system will allow easy check in of library materials, so staff can spend less time performing laborious tasks and focus more on the customers’ experience.

The project is schedule to be complete by the end of 2010. [end]

Vaughan Public Libraries in Ontario, Ca. are in the final stages of implementing the Fastrac RFID system.

The Fastrac RFID will provide greater convenience to patrons, time savings for the staff and additional security for the library itself. Provided by the partnership between VTLS and mk Sorting Systems, the installation will include several self-checkout kiosks, staff stations, RFID gates, tagging stations, tagging wands and tags.
