UPM Raflatac tosses us a new bone

UPM Raflatac recently introduced a new DogBone ultra-high frequency RFID tag designed to provide enhanced performance and security features.

Incorporating Monza 4 integrated circuits from Impinj, security and privacy are regulated through QT technology. The QT technology will safeguard the confidentiality of data stored within the tag.


The new DogBone also features an extended memory up to 512 bits, with EPC memory up to 496 bits, as well as Serial Tag ID (STID). The product is set to launch in June of this year. [end] 

University of North Carolina Hospitals are using RFID technology to eliminate medical errors and enhance patient safety in operating rooms, according Healthcare IT News.

UNC Hospitals are using the RF Assure Detection System from RF Surgical Systems, based out of Washington. The system uses RFID detection technology to account for surgical sponges and other materials to prevent items from being left behind inside a patient post-surgery.

Vaughan Public Libraries in Ontario, Ca. are in the final stages of implementing the Fastrac RFID system.

The Fastrac RFID will provide greater convenience to patrons, time savings for the staff and additional security for the library itself. Provided by the partnership between VTLS and mk Sorting Systems, the installation will include several self-checkout kiosks, staff stations, RFID gates, tagging stations, tagging wands and tags.
