Audi expands vehicle access control with I.D. System's PowerFleet

I.D. Systems Inc. announced that it has received a series of purchase orders from Audi to expand deployment of its PowerFleet Vehicle Management System on industrial trucks at Audi’s manufacturing plant in Ingolstadt, Germany.

I.D. Systems will integrate with Audi’s existing systems, applications and products for human resource management with the PowerFleet database, so that vehicle access control parameters will be updated automatically with operator training profiles maintained in SAP.


The PowerFleet system built specifically for tracking and managing industrial vehicles, such as lift trucks and tow tractors, in supply chain environments, including manufacturing and distribution facilities.

The PowerFleet solution incorporates many functionality modules, including vehicle access control which creates accountability by restricting vehicle use to authorized operators. [end] 

APT Skidata unveiled a long range RFID tag and reader combination for applications in vehicle identification and access control.

The passive RFID tag requires no batteries and is attached to the window of the car. As the car approaches the tag is read by the reader. It is reader from a range of up to 10 meters, allowing ample time for the barrier to detect and open for any oncoming vehicle.
