To account for an anticipated growth the Yilport Container Terminal in Gebeze, Turkey is implementing Zebra’s SPARCS N4 terminal operating system. The new system will handle movement of all container logistics and operations from gate yard to vessel.
Currently the terminal is at 400,000 twenty-foot equivalents, a standard measure in container transport, but by 2015 Yilport anticipates a growth up to 2 million.
Within the industrial areas in the Marmara Region of Turkey, the Yilport Container Terminal is becoming the preferred terminal for transport because of its suitable draft, calm sea, moderate weather and easy access to the main roads.
Currently the main terminal gate has two in-lanes and two out-lanes, but will be expanded to ten lanes - with size in and 4 four out when the second phase of development is completed by the end of 2011, and volume is expected to reach 1 million twenty-foot equivalents.
The first phase of the project has already been n June 2009, which included 4 ship-to-shore gantry cranes, 12 rubber tired gantry cranes on the main terminal and 6 at the inland terminal.
The entire three-phased project will be complete by the end of 2015, when Yilport anticipates a final annual capacity of 2 million. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/rfidnews-4.gif)
