Alien takes RFID off-road in Australia

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Alien Technology and KWIKSCORE Race Timing systems have been selected by Motorcycling South Australia, as the timing system of choice for the South Australian Off-Road Championship Series.

Tagging motorcycles is not an easy task, given the high speeds and variability in tag conditions as they pass through read zones. Adding to that the rigors of an off-road championship where the tags are exposed to intense vibration, dirt, mud, rain and even more variability on a dirt track.

South Australia’s motorcycle controlling body, Motorcycling South Australia will utilize Alien’s high sensitivity Higgs-3 based tag engine within Squiggle tag inlays, along with the ALR-9900 enterprise category reader.

Alien’s tags, being passive, do not require batteries, which eliminates the need to collect tags after each event to replace or recharge batteries. [end]
