Thursday, January 14, 2010

Zetes have completed the pilot phase of an RFID project at Spain’s largest sugar refinery, Azucarera Ebro Guadalete in Jerez, Spain.

Integrated with solutions for auto-id and item serialization, the system is to improve external product traceability by making it possible to control outgoing trucks loaded with the finished products, reducing errors and boosting productivity.

The completion of pilot phase controls the outflow of the finished products, and included the system installation and on-site training of the users. Now ready for deployment, the second phase of the project will cover the installation of the solution that controls the inflow of the raw materials.

RFID will make it possible, in this case, to rapidly ascertain and record the origin of raw materials and total weight at unloading. When this second phase is finalized, Azucarera Ebro will have an optimal traceability of its entire logistical chain.

Part of the British Sugar group, Azucarera Ebro is Spain’s is also the world’s second largest sugar producer. [end]
