AeroScout RTLS solution used for resident safety and asset tracking

Sunday, December 20, 2009

AeroScout announced that Samarinda Aged Services has implemented its Resident Safety and Asset Tracking and Management solution at Samarinda Lodge, in Melbourne, Australia.

AeroScout’s Resident Safety and Asset Tracking and Management solution consist of AeroScout MobileView software with the aid of Wi-Fi RFID Tags. The Wi-Fi Tags are attached to shower trolleys, lifting equipment and wheelchairs and AeroScout’s MobileView allows staff to search for and locate equipment when needed, leading to improved response times and staff productivity.

In addition, each resident is given an AeroScout Wi-Fi Tag with a call button. Nurses are able to respond immediately via a portable voice device, to ensure the residents know that help is on the way. The Wi-Fi tags provide great range and permit residents to roam the grounds and feel comfortable that they can reach a nurse from anywhere on the property, even while walking outside.

AeroScout’s Wi-Fi real time location system enables aged care residents to use call buttons to request assistance when needed, and staff to quickly locate residents anywhere on the property. Samarinda also uses the AeroScout solutions to track and manage equipment that is used to deliver care. [end]

Texas Instruments (TI) introduced a pair of encapsulated RFID mini-transponders designed for applications in animal tagging and asset tracking.

The 12mm TRPGR30TGC and TRPGP40TGC mini-transponders were developed to enable users a battery-free solution for embedding RFID tags into smaller objects across a broader range of applications. These transponders come ready-to-use and are 100 percent backwards compatible with all of TI’s RFID software and readers including power modules, control modules and micro readers.
