Identec Solutions chosen for shipyard container management solution

Identec Solutions announced that its active RFID technology has been selected by Total Terminal International Algeciras for deployment at the new Greenfield automated terminal in Algeciras, Spain.

Identec Solutions, along with Hi-Tech Solutions Europe (HTSE) and ABB will provide a total solution and support system, with a Terminal Operating System developed by IT Korean Company Cyberlogitec Ltd.


Identec Solutions will deliver its newly released IntelliFIND Real Time Locating System for the ship to shore crane and yard operations. Shuttle carriers will be located under the quay cranes and matched to containers automatically scanned by the HTSE Optical Character Recognition system. In the yard, the Identec Solutions’ RFID/RTLS based system will track the location and status of all shuttles and containers.

Identec Solutions will also work with ABB to provide a new traffic control system, in an effort to ensure correct delivery and retrieval of containers. The Global Control System middleware solution provided by HTSE will be responsible for linking the IntelliFIND RTLS and ASC traffic subsystems with Terminal Operating System. [end] 

AOptix Technologies announced that SITA, a specialist in air transport communications and information technology, has joined the AOptix Value Added Reseller program.

Under the partnership, SITA, who has customers in more than 200 countries which includes 300 airport locations, would be able to offer its customers AOptix solutions. These offerings include the InSight iris and face recognition product as an automated solution for airports to quickly and securely identify passengers at security checkpoints with documents such as biometric-enabled passports.

The agency has a lot of restricted and sensitive data that has particular management requirements. The MoD felt that the Identive contact smart card reader would provide the desired level of security, yet be flexible enough to incorporate into the existing network security infrastructure.
