Linentracker RFIDs take the guesswork out of linen inventories

Monday, December 14, 2009

Linen Technology Tracking has announced an addition to their line of linen products complete with RFID Linentracker smart tags.

The tags would enable hotels and businesses alike to monitor things such as wash counts, inventory management, and a potential for enhancing guest experience.

Linen Technology Tracking is currently working with mills to produce linens that can withstand the rigorous hotel environments, and also to embed RFID tags at the factory level, so that products are ready for immediate use upon shipment.

Pre-trial tests have been conducted using Linen Technology’s Linentracker tags, and results have proved successful up to 200 cycles with read ranges from eight to 10 feet. [end]

Hotels from Florida, Hawaii and New York have installed RFID technology in an effort to prevent towel theft, reports The USA Today.

Miami-based Linen Technology Tracking LLC provided the washable RFID technology to three hotels – in Honolulu, Miami and Manhattan – and the system to keep track of towels, robes and bed sheets. The Honolulu hotel has reduced theft of its pool towels from 4,000 a month to 750 since it introduced the technology last summer, according to Linen Technology.
