Atmel Corporation has released its new ATA5575M1 transponder, a low frequency OTP (One Time Programmable) chip designed for next-generation access control systems.
Application areas include: hotel rooms, engineering departments, offices, time recording systems and parking lots, as well as customer loyalty and membership cards.
The new 0.9 square millimeter transponders feature trimmed 250- or 330-pF on-chip capacitors, which eliminate the need for external components, since a coil is all that is needed for a complete system. This bare bones construction drives the cost per chip down to just $.034.
Additional OTP functionality allows customers to program the required ID code before shipping, decreasing the time it takes for the tags to be deployed upon arrival.
The ATA5575M1 chips are built to handle harsh weather and can operate under water, on metal, in dirt, out-of-sight, or worn on the body. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/rfidnews-4.gif)
