SMARTRAC wins contract to supply 30 million tags

RFID manufacturer SMARTRAC N.V. has won a one-year contract to supply 30 million RFID labels to a large system integrator. Due to an arrangement of confidentiality, the name of the contractor and the specific details of the contract are undisclosed.

Based in Amsterdam, SMARTRAC produces RFID products for library and media management, public transportation, access control, e-passports, contactless credit cards, animal identification and logistics. [end] 

SMARTRAC has announced that it is now supplying a complete collection of NFC transponders, including inlays for labels, tickets, cards and complete tags.

As one of the world’s major suppliers of RFID transponders, the company says it is “well prepared” to support its global customer base in tapping the potential of NFC technology. According to SAMRTRAC, the NFC devices can be used in a variety of application fields such as access control, mobile devices, public transport and contactless payment.

UPM has reached an agreement with SMARTRAC whereby UPM will sell its RFID business to SMARTRAC. UPM will become an indirect shareholder of SMARTRAC with a 10.6% economic interest through the company OEP Technologie.

Accurate Biometric announced it has been awarded a contract from the FBI for its Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).

The contract is a significant one for Accurate as it enables them to offer same-day FBI fingerprint submission services for criminal background checks to clients such as housing authorities, Indian reservations and banks.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded Accenture Federal Services a 13-month, $71 million contract to add biometric modalities and other enhancements to the US-VISIT program. US-VISIT uses digital fingerprints and photographs. A pilot program included in the contract will test facial and iris voluntary identification enrollment and matching.
