Rutgers launches RFID research center

Rutgers University, in partnership with Tagsource, has announced the launch of the Rutgers University RFID Research Center located on the Busch Campus in Piscataway, NJ.

The new Research Center’s primary function is to provide insight into how RFID is being utilized across the globe to provide real business value.

The center will also be used to host industry seminars and executive forums, continuing education classes, and independent research projects to support industry, government, and department of defense RFID.

The official launch of the Rutgers University RFID Research Center will be held October 30th. [end]

After long delays, Algeria launches biometric passports

After a nearly three-year delay, the Algerian government has finally launched its biometric passport program.

Magharebia reports that the biometric passports, which contain a contactless smart card chip that holds a digitized photo, fingerprints and signature, were supposed to be released in 2009.
