Spanish fashion retailer Messcalino takes inventory, cuts theft with RFID

Friday, October 23, 2009

Messcalino, an international women’s fashion retailer based in Spain, has successfully deployed the Sensormatic item level tracking solution from ADT in one of its newest retail stores in Figueres, Spain. The solution combines item-level RFID technology with the Sensormatic UltraMax anti-theft system to improve inventory management and catch shoplifters.

Messcalino has traded in its traditional bar codes for reusable hard tags that carrying multi-sensor technologies (RFID and anti-theft). This gives each item a unique identity and allows employees real-time visibility of items throughout their store, including the changing room where items are often nabbed.

The Sensormatic solution also delivers real-time data on which goods have the highest turn rate in terms of item style, color, size and other features. Merchandise buyers can then use this to provide their customer base with the goods that best match their buying habits. Ultimately this information can help Messcalino boost sales, decrease returns and process refunds more effectively. [end]
