VeriChip lands $10m investment from Optimus

Florida-based VeriChip Corporation, maker of the world’s first human implantable RFID chip, has announced that it will receive a $10 million investment from Optimus Technology Capital Partners.

VeriChip plans to use a portion of the investment to fully fund its program with RECEPTORS LLC to develop a virus triage detection system for the H1N1 virus and an in vivo glucose-sensing RFID microchip. The rest will be reserved for working capital. [end] 

LG Electronics has announced the addition of two new Android-based Optimus Series smart phones, the LG Optimus Pro and the LG Optimus Net.

According to LG, both phones will run on the latest NFC-enabled Android 2.3 platform, ‘Gingerbread.’ However, only some of the phones launched in Europe will be NFC capable for mobile payments, depending on the carrier.
