Fujitsu releases new tags for document management

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Japanese IT solutions provider Fujitsu Ltd. and Fujitsu Frontech Ltd. announced the availability of their new UHF-band RFID tags designed for management of business documents such as loan documents, contracts and mail.

According to Fujitsu, up to 100 of the new tags can be simultaneously read when spaced only 2 mm, making them ideal for use in tracking large stacks of documents. Fujitsu also claims that 100 documents outfitted with the new tag can be read in just four seconds from a single read.

The tags, which feature a read range of 2.5 meters, can also be read through storage boxes, reducing the risk of loss or accidental disposal when the documents reach warehouses and storage facilities.

The new tags will be exhibited at the Fujitsu booth at the 11th Annual Auto-ID Expo, which will be held September 16-18 at Tokyo Big Site. [end]
