RF Code introduces industry first wire-free liquid detection sensor

Friday, August 28, 2009

RF Code has announced the release of a real-time liquid detection sensor that eliminates the need to wire or cable a data center for liquid leak detection.

The RF Code fluid sensor uses thin-film technology combined with real time monitoring technology to detect leaks wherever conductive liquids threaten expensive IT assets. For example, the sensor can be wrapped around floor or ceiling pipes, laid down on vulnerable floor areas, placed on water delivery systems and chillers, or attached to air conditioning units and walls.

According to RF Code, the RF sensor can be immediately wiped down and ready for action instantly, resulting in no leak detection downtime. In addition, the amount of liquid presence needed to initiate a leak alert is minimal, thereby reducing response time to an emerging threat.

The fluid sensor attaches to an RF Code active RFID sensor tag via a three-meter cord. Information captured by the sensor tag is instantly sent to Sensor Manager software, which provides real-time monitoring and alerting about environmental conditions at a site. [end]

HID Global unveiled the latest addition to its portfolio of RFID tags, with the announcement of the IronTag 176 ultra-high frequency (UHF) transponder.

This durable tag is suited for tracking a variety of metal parts and equipment. Originally designed for tracking aircraft parts during assembly and maintenance, the IronTag endures the harsh conditions of manufacturing and processing as well as vehicle and equipment operation.
