Alien's UHF RFID inlays get top marks

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Alien Technology has announced that its UHF RFID EPC Gen 2 inlays received the distinction of “Top Ranking” performance from the 2009 European EPC Competence Center (EECC), marking the third consecutive year Alien’s inlays have topped their competitors.

EECC is an independent organization based in Nuess, Germany that annually publishes UHF Tag Performance Surveys to evaluate top inlays in the industry. This year’s evaluation involved 30 different inlays, which were tested for performance adjacent to various dielectric materials including free space, glass, water, and metal.

The 2009 EECC results indicate striking progress in the field. In 2007 the best inlay had a read range of five meters. In 2008 the number jumped to 10 meters. This year Alien’s Higgs-3 based “G” out performed the other inlays with a read range of more than 12.8 meters—2.5 meters ahead of the pack. [end]
