ODIN offers tag pricing guide

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in News

RFID solution provider ODIN Technologies has created a pricing guide for RFID tags. The guide is intended to help end users of RFID technology make well-informed decisions about tag purchases by offering an independent source for standard tag pricing and highlighting the key variables which drive tag costs.

In addition to providing a current listing of standard tag prices, the pricing guide addresses several topics which play a role in the cost of tags. Tag materials, dimensions, frequencies and recent industry innovations are all discussed. ODIN plans to update the guide periodically to track pricing trends.

“There is a great deal of misunderstanding surrounding passive RFID tag prices,” says Chetan Karani, an engineer at ODIN. “Tags come in many forms and with a broad variety of capabilities. For instance, with a seven cent tag, you can be sure it doesn’t have a large memory bank and can’t withstand an hour in an autoclave. End users need to make sure they align use case, application, and performance requirements with expectations around tag costs.”

The pricing guide also complements ODIN’s RFID Benchmark Series, publication which presents the industry standards for head-to-head, scientific RFID equipment and component performance.

The ODIN RFID Tag Pricing Guide is available for free downloading at www.odintechnologies.com. [end]
