Gnomes for sale (garden use not recommended)

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in News

Industrial Portals, the RFID-based product division of the Jamison Door Company, has unveiled its new Gnome series product line. The Gnome device is a compact RFID-enabled pedestal, suitable for use in retail, institutional, office and data center environments, as an alternative to more intrusive industrial-style cabinets. Use as a substitute for traditional, non-RFID-enabled garden gnomes is not suggested by the manufacturer.

The Gnome pedestals offer a small footprint and physical presence that can be used in pairs or as a free-standing single unit. The units read GEN2 RFID tags, are scalable, and will accommodate most major brands of RFID equipment. Plug ‘n play units are available that include readers and antennas.

The Gnome has been deployed in office and retail applications using RFID for asset management, real-time inventory tracking, personnel tracking, and WIP applications. With placement in these non-industrial environments in mind, the unit uses aesthetically-pleasing textured ABS covers currently available in black or white, with either solid oak side trim in four finishes or a more industrial matte aluminum finish.

The Gnome easily bolts to the floor or can be mounted on a wall using a special wall-mount bracket. [end]
