Thursday, March 19, 2009

The U.K.’s M/A-COM RFID Inc. has sold of its RFID product lines to Micronetics Inc., a New Hampshire-based firm which specializes in microwave and RF components and sub-assemblies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The M/A-COM products that are changing hands include portal systems with directional intelligence, sensor-based forklift systems, and some high performance RFID antenna designs.

For Micronetics, the purchase represents a step toward the company’s core strategic goal, becoming a supplier of RF/microwave subsystems. The company plans to move production of the devices to its Hudson, New Hampshire, facility.

M/A-COM is a subsidiary of U.K.-based defense and aerospace conglomerate Cobham Plc. The company, formed in July of 2008, holds assets from the acquisition by Cobham of a portion of Tyco Electronics Group S.A.’s RF components and subsystems business. [end]
