Xterprise offers Clarity in a heartbeat

Thursday, February 26, 2009

RFID software application developer Xterprise Inc. has launched the Clarity Heartbeat System Health Monitor. An expansion of the company’s Clarity application technology, the new system offers a way to monitor deployed RFID solutions across a widely distributed network of sites, devices and services.

The Clarity Heartbeat system can be configured to monitor a combination of software and device components in an enterprise-scale RFID solution of varying size. The system can monitor a wide range of components, from middleware and networks to RFID edge devices and desktop hardware. In the case of devices created by major manufacturers like Motorola and Alien Technology, the Xterprise system can leverage monitoring capabilities built in by the device maker and include the data in its own alerts.

Information gathered by the system is delivered to a centralized console dashboard with system health indicators. Users can create their own standards for alerts, which can be delivered via several methods including e-mail and SNMP. Clarity Heartbeat can also be configured to publish alerts to existing network monitoring solutions such as Microsoft’s System Center, HP’s Open View and IBM’s Tivoli.
