UPM Raflatac deepens partnership with University of Arkansas-center
RFID tag and inlay provider UPM Raflatac has announced it has been invited to serve on the advisory board of the University of Arkansas RFID Research Center. The facility is notable for the research it has conducted on the use of RFID in inventory management, demonstrating RFID’s ability to automate and enhance inventory management processes and enable retailers to optimize product ordering, replenish goods and reduce out-of-stocks.
The research center is a vendor-neutral, third-party research and testing facility, but has worked closely with Arkansas-based retail bohemoth Wal-Mart. It is the first academic laboratory to be accredited by EPCglobal. The center includes a 10,000-foot RFID laboratory with a model production warehouse and retail store environment to test new RFID products and applications.
Since 2005, UPM Raflatac has sponsored the research center by supplying tags, inlays and other equipment. With this new level of partnership, UPM Raflatac will help shape the future direction of the center’s research while offering a global perspective on the development of the RFID market.
