Zetes swallows up Bopack Systems

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Zetes Industries, a European provider of automatic ID solutions including RFID products, will take over the activities of Bopack Systems, a developer of labeling machines. The move expands Zetes’ capabilities in the “print and apply” sector of the identification industry.

In addition to the design and manufacture of labeling machines, Bopack had positioned itself as an integrator for the print and apply business, offering solutions which enabled links between production and warehousing and the management software systems. Zetes has previously shown interest in expansion into this sector with the purchase of two Spanish companies specializing in the same technologies in 2006 and 2007.

Zetes already has experience with the products of Bopack Systems, as its French subsidiary ZetesInterscan has been France’s exclusive distributor for Bopack Systems for several years.

As part of the deal, around 30 Bopack Systems employees will transfer to Zetes offices in Belgium and the Netherlands. [end]
