Orizin offers low cost demo kit

Orizin Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a Bangalore-based RFID hardware maker, has announced a New Year’s gift of sorts to prospective business partners. The Indian firm is offering an economically priced integrated RFID demo kit for solutions providers and resellers interested in a long-term business relationship with Orizin.

The demo kit, with products from Orizin’s Dominion series, consists of one 2-port UHF reader, two antennas, ten passive tags and software development kit. The demo kit is expected to be delivered within 4 weeks of ordering.

“This is a great opportunity to get a first hand experience of RFID technology.” says Suresh Rao, chief technology officer of Orizin. “We will provide free email support to our partners for a 3 month period.” [end] 

PayPal is opening up a showroom in downtown New York that will demo in-store mobile payments through NFC and other channels, according to GigaOM.

PayPal, which has been reticent to adopt NFC payments due to a perceived “lack of traction,” has now added a “tap phone” option that enables customers to simply tap their phone at the point of sale to complete transactions. GigaOM notes that the feature does not represent a full commitment to NFC payments, but leaves the option open should the market lean toward that direction.

Canadian start-up ZapTap has developed a new in-store solution that uses NFC tags to share product information with customers, according to Techvibes.

The ZapTap 360 platform enables merchants to put NFC tags containing information about given products on store shelves, enabling NFC phone users with a ZapTap app to receive product information, coupons and customer reviews with a simple tap.
