Traxxec, Rexam collaborate on pharmaceutical packaging

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Traxxec Inc., a specialist in RFID-enabled packaging solutions, has entered into a licensing agreement with consumer packaging giant Rexam Plc. to provide a line of RFID-enabled products for the pharmaceutical industry. The RF bottle resulting from the partnership will meet guidelines for RFID-enabling packaging recently set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Traxxec has spent more than six years working on the technology for the packaging system, including a prototype system first presented to the pharmaceutical industry in 2002 and multiple pilot programs. That research and labor has resulted in this new, fifteen year patent exclusive licensing agreement with Rexam.

Research performed by the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry has indicated that robust packaging includes RFID technology from the point of manufacture would a significant level of cost-efficiency and other benefits. [end]
