Hi-G-Tek to supply security devices for CANBERRA

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in News

Hi-G-Tek, a supplier of RFID-enabled sensing and control solutions for tracking high-value cargo and sensitive materials, has announced an agreement to supply its solutions to CANBERRA, a subsidiary of the AREVA company. The deal establishes Hi-G-Tek as an Original Equipment Manufacturer for Canberra, a supplier of systems, instruments and services for radiation detection, identification and material protection.

Under the OEM agreement, Hi-G-Tek will supply its wireless RFID seals, locks and readers to CANBERRA for use in the company’s portfolio of security solutions. CANBERRA offers fixed and mobile detection devices that identify the presence of radioactive materials in packages, containers, vehicles and on people. The devices are used in border security, first response and emergency management and transportation and facility security.

CANBERRA also provides solutions for material and process integrity assurance and breach detection safeguards. For this market, CANBERRA and Hi-G-Tek have developed an active-RFID monitoring tool which can be used as an Early Warning System to protect infrastructure sites from contamination. The system, which uses Hi-G-Tek’s Pro-Active technology, supplies real-time, automated warnings of contamination to the appropriate personnel while RFID seals act as locks which notify local law enforcement officials immediately if an unauthorized entry occur. [end]
