GAO RFID Inc. has introduced a series of RFID Position Markers. The two new devices, the GAO 491013 and GAO 491014, are used to determine exact locations of long-range, semi-passive RFID tags.
In a typical deployment of a position marker, it is positioned near an RFID antenna. As a semi-passive tag passes the antenna’s induction loop, the tag is activated and identification data from the position marker is downloaded onto the tag.
Depending on the type of tag, the current identification data, previous data, and the relative time of passage over the loop are either repeatedly broadcast or can be read later by an RFID scanner. The ability to control the limits of the inductive field enables it to distinguish lanes and recognize directions. The GAO Position Markers are maintenance-free after original parameters are set.
